Abstract
The Holy Qur'an, as a sacred revelatory text and the greatest divine miracle, can be analyzed and studied from various aspects, which can be studied by applying the knowledge of semantics. Semantics is one of the emerging methods in Quranic studies that studies the scientific meaning of the text, extracts the hidden meaning of the text and explores the semantic layers of the word. One of the ways that is used today to understand the meanings of texts is to rely on the principle of syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations. Using descriptive-analytical method, the present study tries to discuss the meaning of different constructions and functions of the word ‘shorb’ (drink) in the Holy Quran in order to understand and translate it more accurately. It also tries to recognize the different syntactic and Qur'anic constructions of the word drink by the method of structural semantics and interpretive and linguistic texts, and to analyze and study the concepts derived from the constructions of drink in the Holy Qur'an based on paradigmatic relations. In this article, after the lexicology of the word ‘Shorb’ (drink), the paradigmatic relations of Shorb with words such as ‘Heim’, ‘Hamim’, ‘Tahoor’, ‘Haniyeh’, etc. have been studied.
