The concept of divine accompaniment (ma‘iyyat) the presence and coexistence of God with human beings is a central notion in Qur’anic thought, playing a vital role in moral and devotional guidance. This study investigates the image schemas that shape the meaning of divine accompaniment in the Qur’an. Employing a cognitive–semantic approach, the research utilizes preconceptual, embodied schemas such as containment, companionship, path, interiority, vertical orientation (up–down), and restraint, along with novel patterns such as separation and distinction, as interpretive tools for understanding Qur’anic meaning. The methodology is descriptive–analytical, based on a selective examination of Qur’anic verses related to divine accompaniment, focusing on their image-based structures and rhetorical functions. The findings reveal that the Qur’an presents divine accompaniment as a multilayered and experiential phenomenon rather than a mere abstract concept, serving as a significant factor in shaping human ethical and devotional orientation. From a rhetorical perspective, activating these image schemas enhances the moral and pedagogical aims of the verses and facilitates mapping abstract theological meanings onto readers’ embodied and sensory experiences.
